About Therapy

You matter!

Therapy is about committing to yourself the belief that, yes, you do matter.

Each day, you wake up feeling lost, alone, and unsure of what to do next.

Those anxious feelings keep you from eating because your stomach is in knots, and your mind is racing.

Overwhelmed with always too much to do, worry about, and care for others without time for yourself.

Now is the time…

…to take that first step and make yourself a priority – to push away the discouraging thoughts about therapy. You know what I’m talking about:

“It takes too much time, it’s too much money, it’s not for me.” “We don’t do therapy in my family.” “I can get through it on my own.”

But now, you’ve reached what I call the tipping point – that point where you just can’t keep doing it all alone. Until now, you’ve had the resilience to get through on your own, keep going, white-knuckle it, if necessary.

Today – it’s just all too much – too much despair, too much grief, too much to think about, too much feeling stuck.

To ask for help.

That’s when you know it’s time to pick up the phone and make the call – because you matter! Because you want to change your outlook on life.

Or perhaps you want to change the life you are living and find more meaning and fulfillment or simply quiet your mind.

Once you make the phone call, you are on your way. The hardest part is behind you. You’ve taken that first step.

Then you come to my safe space – a welcoming space…

You’ll walk into my office and take a deep breath, or two, or three. I like to start each session with a short settling exercise to bring us into the space together to be fully present.

During your first appointment, you’ll fill me in on the reasons that are bringing you to therapy. You’ll share your concerns, difficulties you may be having with life stressors, struggles with decisions on moving forward. We’ll identify your goals and figure out a game plan.

In our weekly sessions, you will discover more effective ways to cope with stress, depression, anger, and anxiety.

You will learn skills to improve listening and communication styles to enhance your relationships.

We will talk about changing your perspective and considering other possibilities to move away from black or white thinking.

You will enjoy the benefits of overcoming obstacles, getting ‘unstuck’ from unhealthy patterns, problem solve, and better manage your emotions.

About Me

Life is a journey of self-reflection and discovery. We are ever learning, changing, and growing.

When I was a mother of two young children, I went back to school to get my Master of Social Work degree. I had been a stay-at-home mom for eight years after a career in the fashion industry.

Talk about a change! It was not without some fear and worry that I took this step. Deciding and following through with my decision caused me to grow and find greater fulfillment in my life.

I want to help you get to that place as well – on whatever your chosen path.

You are the leader in your journey; I am your support staff, at your side to listen, ask the questions that help you find your way, provide you with the tools you need to get there.

I am here to hold space for you, to help you slow things down so you can sort all the noise in your head and find your way.

I offer free 20-minute consultations for those interested in working with me. This time is a way for us to get to know each other better to be sure we are a good fit.
